Chelsea celebrated Veterans Day at a luncheon at the Chelsea Senior Center this past Tuesday,
Nov. 11. Speakers included (l to r) Senator Sal DiDomenico; Donald Kingsbury, head of the Chelsea Veterans Council, and City Manager Jay Ash. Also there to recognize local veterans were State Reps. “I wasn’t called to fight with you, but I’m now honored to fight for you,” Rep. Vincent stressed, while Manager Ash said: “Every day should be Veterans Day.” Sen. DiDomenico told of the heroism of his grandfather during World War II, and Rep. Ryan thanked veterans for defending a land where the transfer of political power, a reference to the upcoming change in gubernatorial office holders here in Massachusetts, “takes place without bloodshed.”
Councillor Robinson congratulated The Neighborhood Developers for work in transforming
the former American Legion building on Shurtleff Street in housing for homeless veterans. Ash also congratulated both the state and local officials for working with TND to save the building and place it again in service to local veterans.
