With the temperature hitting 88 degrees Wednesday, it’s hard to believe that a new school year is upon us, but our summer is entering its final month and soon students will be returning to classes for the 2013-14 academic year.
Today there is a huge Back to School Celebration being held from 2-5 p.m. at the Williams School. There will be free food, drinks, and giveaways and a large crowd of students and families are expected to attend this celebration.
And this is certainly a time to celebrate the success of the Chelsea school system. Many students from the Chelsea High School Class of 2013 are poised to begin college, some of whom will be matriculating at the finest institutions in the world.
The Chelsea schools have always produced outstanding students who have gone to achieve much success in their careers. Our esteemed superintendent of schools Dr. Mary Bourque (Class of 1977) is a shining example for all students in the Chelsea school system as is our city manager Jay Ash (Class of 1979) who was voted the most outstanding scholar-athlete at Clark University and is so highly regarded for his efforts in building the city we are so proud of today. CHS Principal Joe Mullaney is another sterling product of the Chelsea school system.
Chelsea families can enjoy today’s celebration knowing that the Chelsea school system and its dedicated administrators and teachers will provide a safe and enriching learning environment for their children in the coming year.
