Janice Ruth Mugford

Of Chelmsford, formerly of Chelsea

Janice Ruth (Gillette) Mugford  of Chelmsford, formerly of Chelsea , passed away on November 30. She was 78 years old.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was born in Chelsea on September 7, 1934 and has lived in Chelmsford since 1966. She graduated from Chelsea High School, class of 1952.

A dedicated volunteer,  she was former Past President of the Elks Emblem Club and enjoyed years of service with many organizations including Nashoba Valley Technical School, numerous blood drives, Lowell General Hospital Gift Shop, and the Chelmsford Senior Center, where she ran the weekly bingo game and served as Chairman of the Ways and Means committee.
Janice was an animal lover and proud mother to her cats, Kayleigh and Little One. She was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, and enjoyed reading and playing bingo and cards in her spare time. She was passionate about being “Nana” to her girls and never ceased to make every moment together a special and memorable one. She took great enjoyment in sharing her love and pride for them. Most recently, she took on her most cherished role as “Great Nana Jan” to her beloved “Boopah” Chase, who is as equally in love with her.
Janice lived her life with a brightness and passion that never dimmed, and her passing will leave a void in the lives of all whom she has touched. “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. Please don’t take our sunshine away.”

She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Donald D. Mugford, Sr, loving children Karen M. Drew of Hershey, PA., Donald D. Mugford Jr of Chelmsford, and son-in-law Greg Drew of Hollidaysburg, PA; granddaughters Lindsay Drew Coulter and her husband, Matt of Hershey, PA, Kayla Drew of Conshohocken, PA and her great-grandson, Chase Coulter. She also leaves her brother, George Gillette of New Hampshire and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, sisters Phyllis Mugford, and Edith Poloian, and her beloved granddaughter, Jessica Drew of Hershey, PA.
Arrangements were by the Blake Funeral Home, Chelmsford.  Burial was private. Elaine Young

Of Chelsea

Elaine Young  of Chelsea passed away on December 2. She was 80 years old.

The loving daughter of the late Norman Yong and the late Sara (Lifsitz) Young, she was the dear sister of Sheldon Young, Carol Bell and her husband, John, Sandra Padulsky and her husband, Morton, Barbara Nair and her husband, Howard, Carl Young and his dear friends, Nancy Dyer and Catherine Giordano, Jordan Young and the late Norton Young and the late Neal Young. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Torf Funeral Service, Chelsea. Burial was in Everett. June B. Travis of Chelsea, passed away on November 30 surrounded by her loving family.  She was 78 years old.

The cherished daughter of the late Beatrice (Early) and Roland McMullen, Sr., she was the loving wife of the late George E. Travis, Sr. ; beloved mother of George E. Travis, Jr and his wife, Ann, Barbara Torres, Sharon Gay, Linda Travis, and the late Beatrice Rodriquez and the adored grandmother of many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was the loving sister of Andrew McMullen, Fawn Bent, Cordelia Haibowicz, and the late Roland McMullen, Jr. and Richard McMullen and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Michael Cohen

Former Chelsea Resident

Michael A. Cohen, formerly of Chelsea, died on November 28.

He is survived by his uncle, James Lyman of Rockville, MD.
