Artie’s July Fourth Celebration had its 35th anniversary on July 4, 2012. The party started in 1977 when Ells received a flag flown over the Capitol Building in Washington on July 4, 1976. Over the years many family and friends have enjoyed games, swimming, and all the great food. President Bush and President Clinton have sent letters commending this event to honor America. Major League Baseball players Wade Boggs, Danny Darwin, and John Henry Johnson have attended. The motto of the event has always been: No man is a failure who has friends. As you see, Artie has many of them.
