The well-known and highly respected Chelsea businesswoman, Evelyn Wing, died last week following a sudden illness.
Mrs. Wing, the wife of the late Larry Wing, was 81.
Mrs. Wing and her husband were primarily restaurateurs. During 45 years of ownership of Wing’s Restaurant on Broadway, their name became synonymous with quality and great service – and along the way, both Mr. and Mrs. Wing became Chelsea legends as they at one time or another during a long business life served a large part of the population of this city in their restaurant. They also became substantial property owners in the city over the decades.
Mrs. Wing was a quiet, stately, humble woman. She was always the woman behind the man – but in her own right was a strong supporter for a lifetime of Asian American Affairs.
Our condolences to her entire family and especially to Leverett, whom we know so well.
