Chelsea police arrest six in drug bust

Last Wednesday Chelsea Police made a major drug bust and arrested six dealers in Bellingham Square. The Department’s Drug Unit launched operation “Buy Bust” in the square area by utilizing undercover officers who purchased illegal narcotics from these drug distributors in an effort shut down the illegal operation in the business district.

Teams of officers saturated the Bellingham Square area and quickly arrested the six individuals for illegal distribution of cocaine after the sales were made to the undercover officers.

A seventh individual was also placed into custody on an outstanding Breaking and Entering felony warrant.

“The Chelsea Police Department will continue to employ all of its resources in combating all illegal activity in the Bellingham Square area,” said Chief Brian Kyes. “This is the central core of the city that is traversed daily by hundreds of students and patrons of businesses. This will continue to be a high priority area for enforcement”

All of the suspects were charged with Distributing a Class B Substance and Distributing a Class B Substance within 1000 feet of a School Zone which carries a mandatory sentence of two years in the House of Correction.
