Dorothy Hannabury

Clerk for City of Chelsea

Dorothy Hannabury of Chelsea died on October 5.

The clerk for the City of Chelsea, she was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine (Hale) Hannabury.

A prayer service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in The Rapino Memorial Home, 9 Chelsea Street, (Maverick Sq.) East Boston followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.

 

Rita McGuirk

Popular Longtime Hilltop Steak House Waitress

Rita M. (Caissie) McGuirk of Revere died on October 18 following a brief illness at Eastpointe Nursing Center of Chelsea. She was 94 years old.

Born in Chelsea, she was a lifelong resident of Revere and a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1932. She was a long time active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Revere and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW 6712 of Beachmont.

Mrs. McGuirk retired from the Hilltop Steak House in Saugus in 1984, at age 70, having served at that facility for more than 25 years. She also worked previously at several other area restaurants.

She was the wife of the late John W. McGuirk; devoted mother of M. Margaret “Peggy” Spinazzola and her husband, Michael, of Melbourne, FL, Lillian M. Graf of Georgetown, Rita C. “Sissy” Ducey and her husband, William, of Revere, and the late John F. McGuirk; dear sister of Frederick Caissie and Christine LeClair, both of Gulfport, FL., Theresa Kearns of Everett and the late Melvin and Albert Caissie, Jeanne Caissie and Delia McLaughlin; beloved sister in-law of Alice Lane of Bridgewater and Joseph McGuirk of Virginia. She is also lovingly survived by 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, one great great grandson and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit with the family today, Thursday, October 21 in The Vertuccio Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte 107) Revere from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by her Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Revere at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Demari Moore

Four Months Old

Demari Moore, four months old, of Greenfield, MA, died on October 11.

Son of Lakiya Moore and Dakarri Crapts, both of Greenfield, he is survived by his three brothers, Traye, Jayshawn and Traivon Moore; his grandmother, Deborah Moore, of Chelsea, and his great-grandmother, Ida L. Moore, of Mobile, Alabama. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Elvita Minigan

Beverly resident

Elvita C. (Scoglio) Minigan of Beverly died October 18.

She was the wife of the late William J. Minigan; mother of Rev. William J. Minigan, Pastor of St. Joseph Church, Malden, Raymond J. Minigan of Chelsea, Patricia M. Parsons and her husband, Alan, of Beverly; John A. Minigan and his wife, Lynn, of Framingham; grandmother of Timothy J. Parsons and his wife, Beth, of Reading, Thomas H. Parsons and his wife, Tina, of Raymond, NH; Mariah C. and Colin J. Minigan of Framingham.

Diane M. Levi of Chelsea died October 16. She was 53 years old.

The dear daughter of Esther H. Levi of Danvers and the late Ralph J. Levi, she was the loving niece of Florence Freedman and her husband, David S., of Framingham and the beloved sister of the late Sandi Kivel.

Richard Hughes

Union Organizer, Worked for State House of Representatives

Richard G.”Dick” Hughes of Everett died on October 16. He was 75 years old.

Mr. Hughes was employed by the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the past 36 years, currently serving as Research Director in the Department of Personnel and Administration and, until 1990, he was the Director of Constituent Services for the Speaker of the House.

He was a 19 year member and former organizer for the Teamsters Union. A former employee of Whitings Milk Company, he was a member of the Winthrop Golf Club.

Mr. Hughes enlisted in the US Army and served in the Infantry in Korea during the Korean War from 1954 to 1956.

He was the beloved husband of Rosemary “Bunnie” (Catalucci) Hughes; dear father of Elizabeth A. Vander Aarde and her husband, John, of Minnesota, Richard H. Hughes and his wife, Deborah, of Melrose, Rosemary A. Hughes of Everett and her dear friend, Keith Houghton, Meaghan E. Verri and her husband, Joseph, of Marlboro; brother of the late Ann Hughes; son of the late Henry G. and Madeline Rose (Barry) Hughes; dear brother-in-law of William “Billy” Catalucci and his wife, Christine, of New Hampshire and is also lovingly survived by eight grandchildren, Jack, Sam, Max Vander Aarde, Kaitlin, Joseph, Madeline Hughes, Jack and Nicholas Verri.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the William R. Carafa & Son Home for Funerals, Chelsea. Burial was in the family lot at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Longtime College Professor

Gail M. (Gallagher) Cirrone of Everett died on October 15.

A longtime College Professor, she was off Campus Criminal Justice Director for both W.N.E.C. and Curry College.

She was the mother of David Manning and his girlfriend, Emily McBride, of Reading; daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Gallagher; sister of Paul Gallagher of Florida, Kevin Gallagher of Chelsea, Donald Gallagher of Florida, Dennis Gallagher of Georgetown, Terrance Gallagher of Everett, Carol O’Connell of Florida and the late Joseph “Jr.” Gallagher and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth B. Gallo of Chelsea died on October 14.

The loving daughter of the late Lorenzo and Domenica (Saladino) Gallo, she was the dear sister of the late Leo Gallo, Carmelo N. Gallo and Nicholas C. Gallo and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

James Rodriguez

James L. Rodriguez died after a brief illness on October 8. He was 59 years old.

A welder at Chelsea Johnson Heaters Company, he was born in Puerto Rico, the son of Milagros (Santiago) and the late Rafael Rodriguez; father of Vivalina H. Rodriguez of Pascaquala, MS; beloved grandfather of four and brother of Julio and his wife, Anita Rosado Rodriguez of Chelsea.

Private funeral services were held at the Nadworny Funeral Home, Lynn. Burial will take place in Puerto Rico.

 

Bradford Schofield

Past MIT Alumni chairman

Bradford H. Schofield of Belmont died on October 14. He was 81 years old.

A US Army veteran of World War II, he was a retired partner of Schofield & Holt, Concord and Past Chairman of the M.I.T. Alumni Association.

He was the son of the late Roland T. and Dorris M. (Tupper) Schofield of Watertown; beloved husband for 57 years of Sally A. (Lopez); devoted father of Lesley A. Wishnick and her husband, Ross, of Princeton NJ, Bradford R. of Belmont, Jeffrey H. of Chelsea and Heidi E. of Waltham; dear brother of Joan Duffy of Maine and the late Eleanor May Downey and loving grandfather of Ethan T. and Aaron B. Wishnick.

Patrick Lydon

Former MDC Engineer

Patrick J. Lydon of Chelsea, formerly of Dorchester and Carna, Co. Galway, Ireland, died on October 12.

A U.S. Army veteran, he was a former M.D.C. Engineer, former Secretary of the Boston Galway Hurling Club and founding member of the Connemara Gaels Gaelic Football Club of Boston.

He was the beloved brother of Coleman “Coley” Lydon of Walpole, Barbara McCarthy of West Roxbury, Mary Fahey of Quincy, Margaret “Peggy” Walsh of West Roxbury and the late John and Michael of Ireland and Val Lydon of England. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews of both America and Ireland.
