Chelsea invites organizations to apply for summer program scholarships

Chelsea’s Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs is expanding its Youth & Family Recreation and Cultural Engagement Scholarship Program and is inviting local and regional organizations to apply for funding. This initiative, led by the Chelsea City Council and City Manager, aims to increase access to summer recreation and cultural opportunities for Chelsea youth and families by partnering directly with organizations that provide quality programs.

Through this program, the City awards funding directly to organizations to help offset participant fees and reduce financial barriers for Chelsea residents. Organizations may receive funding to offset up to 90% of eligible participant costs, with awards ranging from $500 to $1,000 per application. A larger request may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Organizations offering the following are encouraged to apply:

• Registered summer camps (approved by the Chelsea Department of Public Health)

• Recreation & Cultural Summer Programs

Funding may be used for program fees, transportation, field trips, and required materials. Food and beverage costs are ineligible. Awards will be made on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis, subject to funding availability.

Organizations can apply by submitting a completed application to the City of Chelsea Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs at City Hall, 500 Broadway, Chelsea, or through the City’s online application portal at recreation.chelseama.gov. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with funding decisions typically made within 10 days of submission.
