CHS boys need to run the table to reach tourney
The Chelsea High boys basketball team will need to run the table in its final five games of the season if they hope to punch their ticket for a Journey to the Tourney.
Coach Cesar Castro’s Red Devils stand at 5-10 on the season and need to win out in order to finish with the .500 record that is needed to qualify for the post-season state tournament.
After pulling out an exciting 62-59 victory in overtime over Tech Boston in which junior Mo Osman paced Chelsea with 20 points and sophomore George Chappell made the game-winning basket, a win that Castro described as a “tough, gritty game,” the Red Devils came up short in contests this past week with Boston English and Lynn Tech.
The Devils were scheduled to begin their tourney quest last night (Wednesday) at East Boston and will host Medford tomorrow (Friday) evening at 6:00. They will play in a vacation week tournament at Lincoln Sudbury on Sunday and Monday and will wrap up their season by hosting Lynn Classical next Wednesday for a 6:00 opening tip in the CHS gym.
