CHS Fall Sports Set to open 2021 Season

With the pandemic restrictions of 2020 hopefully in the rear-view mirror and a return to near-normalcy on the horizon, the Chelsea High 2021 fall athletic season is set to start next week.

The volleyball team, under head coach Gabriel Morales, and the cross-country team, under head coach Sam Fogel, will get their 2021 campaigns underway next Wednesday, September 8.

The volleyball squad will host Lynn Classical and the cross country team will run at Somerville.

The CHS boys and girls soccer teams will kick off their seasons the following day on Thursday, September 9.

Coach Mick Milutiovic’s Red Devil boys will entertain Lynn Classical on the turf at Chelsea Stadium, while coach Randy Grajal’s girls squad will trek to Classical.

“We’re getting ready for our season,” said Grajal of his Lady Red Devils, who participated in a jamboree at Medford High School this past Sunday. “We played two short games against Everett and Winthrop. We lost both scrimmages, but they provided a great opportunity for the players to experience a game since some of them haven’t been part of the team before.”

The Chelsea High football team, which will be under the direction of recently-named head coach Michael Jackson, will kick-off their 2021 season next Friday, September 10, at Salem.
