Simon Second at All-states, Moves on to All-new England

Chelsea High track star Stephanie Simon placed second in the long jump in this past weekend’s All-State Meet that was held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Stephanie’s jump of 17’-11.5” was behind only that of the winning jump of 19’-0” of Woburn’s Brooklyn Manna.

Steph also earned a fifth place medal in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.37 seconds and a seventh place ribbon in the high jump with a leap of 5’-4”.

She now will advance to compete in the All-New England Meet this Saturday in both the 55-dash and the long jump.

“The best event for Stephanie on the day was the 55-dash, where she matched her time from the week prior,” said CHS head coach Cesar Hernandez. “This was a big improvement last year from when she placed 16th.  Although she placed second in the long jump, she didn’t jump as well as she we would have liked, and we are expecting an improvement this weekend.”
