The Chelsea Boys’ basketball team hosted Mystic Valley in their home opener on Tuesday, Dec. 17, in the CHS gymnasium.
The Chelsea boys showed grit in coming back down by eight in the third quarter, eventually winning the contest 79-75.

STEPH SIMON WINS THE LONG JUMP AT THE SPEED CLASSIC
Chelsea senior Stephanie Simon won her second championship in as many weeks at a major meet with a victory in the long jump at the Speed Classic at the Reggie Lewis Center this past Saturday.
Stephanie captured the long jump at the Winter Festival the week before with a leap of 17’-4”, a distance that was more than a foot further than her closest competitor. At the Speed Classic, she jumped 17’-8,” once again handily outdistancing the competition, with the second place finisher coming in at 17’-2.25.”
Simon also performed outstandingly in the 55 meter dash, grabbing second place in a clocking of 7.61 seconds.
On the boys’ side for the Red Devils, Jazmany Reyes was the top finisher, coming across the line in eighth place in the 600 meter dash in a time of 1:28.59.
