Simon enjoys stellar day at Mass D-1 Meet

Chelsea High track star Stephanie Simon turned in a tremendous performance at this past Saturday’s Eastern Mass. Division 1 Meet.

Stephanie placed second in both the long jump with a leap of 18′-3.5″ and the triple jump with a final landing of 39′-1″, and then earned a seventh place medal in the 200 dash in a clocking of 25.95 seconds.

“Steph had a great day,” said CHS head coach Cesar Hernandez. “She set a new Chelsea High school record in the triple jump, which previously was 38′-0.5″, and a new personal best in the event by eight inches.”

Simon now will compete in both the long jump and triple jump in the upcoming all-state meet. 

Teammate Ana Chang competed in the two events for which she qualified, the 100 dash and the 400 hurdles. Ana did well in both races, finishing 17th in the dash with a sprint of 13.11 and then narrowly missing a medal in the hurdles with a ninth place finish in a clocking of 70.75, which was just 0.47 off the eighth place time.

CHS baseball team concludes season Friday

The Chelsea High baseball team will wrap up its 2019 season tomorrow (Friday) when coach Rich Wilson and his crew play at South Boston High School.

The Red Devils played three games this week, coming up on the short end of two contests against Maimonides Academy and one with Lynn Tech. A bright spot for Chelsea has been the performance of Santiago Quintero, who is batting .324 for the
