Caught Shooting Firearm

On May 5, at 2:21 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 185 Shurtleff St. for a report of gunshots fired. As CPD officers were arriving they could hear gunshots in the vicinity of 75 Bellingham St. Officers observed only one male on the street acting suspiciously. Officers detained the subject and found him to be in possession of a firearm. Officers collected ballistic evidence on the scene and the male was placed under arrest.

Lincoln Ford, 37, of 92 Bellingham St., was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, having a firearm with a defaced serial number, having a firearm within 500 ft. of a dwelling, possessing a firearm without a permit, carrying a dangerous weapon, and six counts of discharging a firearm within 500 ft. of a dwelling.

Pulled a Knife

On May 1, at 8:18 p.m., CPD officers responded to The YMCA located on 207 Shurtleff St. for a report a past assault with a knife. Victim states while on the third floor visiting a friend, he became involved in an argument with a resident who pulled a knife on him. The male party was placed under arrest.

Derek Sands, 34, of 207 Shurtleff St., was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a Class B drug (subsequent), and intimidating a witness.

Fugitive Taken In

On May 5, at 5:45 p.m., officers responded to a radio call on a report of a male with a warrant at 899 Broadway. CPD officers responded to the area and covered all exit ways and within seconds, the male with the warrant was placed into custody without incident. The Massachusetts  State Parole took custody of the subject after being processed at Chelsea headquarters. Jose Manuel Fontanez Santiago, 29, of Roxbury, was charged as being a fugitive from justice.
