Marilyn Ann McCarthy
July 25, 1940 – December 5, 2018
Marilyn Ann McCarthy, a lifelong Chelsea resident, passed away on Wednesday Dec. 5 at the Elmhurst Healthcare Center in Melrose. She was 78 years old.
Born and raised in Chelsea, the loving and beloved daughter of the late Adolph and Mary (Gembarska) Parrotta, she attended local schools and was a graduate of Chelsea High School. Marilyn worked at the Chelsea Soldiers Home for many years supervising the hospital post office. In her lifetime, she enjoyed reading and was a scholar of astrology. She was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband, James T. McCarthy and is survived by her devoted daughters: Diane Shai and her husband, Joseph of Chelsea, Erin Stevens and her husband, Wayne of Revere, Lisa Kilbride and her husband, Sean of Chelsea, Kim O’Connell of Nahant and her late husband, Joseph. She was the cherished grandmother of Joseph O’Connell and his wife, Kelly, James O’Connell, Richard Noel, Ryan Noel, Lani Mae Stevens, Colin Kilbride, and Chelsea Kilbride; adored great-grandmother of Dylan O’Connell, Jack O’Connell and Gianni Noel and dear friend of Thomas McMahon of Port St. Lucie, FL, Maria Simmons of Murells Inlet, SC and Joanne Rosato of Peabody.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday Dec. 8. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Arrangements were by the Anthony Memorial – Frank A. Welch and Sons Funeral Home, Chelsea.
