Margaret E. Selvage

Longtime resident of the Mill Hill Section of Chelsea

Margaret Selvage of Chelsea passed away on December 2 at the Whidden Memorial Hospital after a decline in health and short illness. She was 76 years old.

Born and raised in East Boston, she was one of four children of the late Thomas and Anna (D’Angelico) Sullivan. She received her early education in East Boston and worked outside of the home to support and contribute to her family.  She married Robert D. Selvage and they shared 50 years together raising their family of three.  She resided in the Mill Hill neighborhood of Chelsea for most of her life and briefly resided in Revere and Everett.  Margret worked as a handler and sorter for Watson Mailing for several years.  She enjoyed family camping in New Hampshire, traveling and Bingo games.  She returned to Chelsea several years ago after the passing of her beloved husband Robert in 2011.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters; Marie Papandrea and Patricia Russo.  She is survived by her beloved children:  Robert D. Selvage and his wife, Noreen of Saugus, Lisa Selvage of Chelsea and Steven Selvage and his wife, Roseanna of Peabody. She was the cherished grandmother of Janna, Courtney, Nicholas, Lola, Sumner and Emma Selvage and the expectant great grandmother of Holden Selvage; the dear sister and sister-in-law of Alice Teneriello and her husband, Sal of Nalples Florida,  Ben Papandrea of East Boston and Sammy Russo of Winthrop.  She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend a Funeral Memorial Mass to be celebrated in Saints Joseph and Lazarus Church, 59 Ashley St., Orient Heights, East Boston on Saturday, December 10 at 10 a.m. Arrangements are by the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home, Chelsea.
