Donna Marie Chafin
Best remembered for her love of animals and her caring, fun loving and feisty personality
Donna Marie Chafin, a lifelong resident of Chelsea, passed away on November 17 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a long battle with ongoing illness. She was 55 years old.
Born in Winthrop, she was one of ten children raised by the late Ralph and June (Morico) Chafin. Donna was the wife and best friend of Bonnie Freda. She attended local schools and worked for local caterers as a waitress.
During her lifetime, Donna enjoyed day trips and board games, participating in local softball leagues, following tennis and all sports. A self-proclaimed “Miss Fix-It” she would occupy her time repairing everything from jewelry to small appliances. She is best remembered for her love of animals and her caring, fun loving and feisty personality.
In addition to her parents, Donna was also preceded in death by her infant son, 5-month old David Sean Chafin, her sister Shelia Chafin, two brothers, Wayne Morico and Ralph Chafin. She is survived by her beloved wife of 27 years, Bonnie Freda; three sisters: Doreen Petterson, Shirley Chafin and Sharon Chafin-Mells and three brothers: Jimmy, Charlie and Leo Chafin. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral arrangements by the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home, Chelsea. A Funeral Mass and inurnment at Woodlawn Cemetery will be announced at a future date.
