Stanley Czerwinski, Jr.

Worked for Sweetheart Paper

Stanley J. Czerwinski Jr., a lifelong Chelsea resident, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, August 28 with his family at his side at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 73 years old.

Born and raised in Chelsea, the loving son of the late Stanley J. and Mary F. (Krakowski) Czerwinski, Stanley attended local schools and worked as a machine operator for Sweetheart Paper in Chelsea up to the time of their relocating out of Chelsea. He was a well-liked and respected resident at the Margolis Apartments in Chelsea for the past 10 years.

In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald J. Czerwinski and brother-in-law Enzo Livoli. He is survived by his beloved friend and companion, Yvonne Stowell of Chelsea, his sister Lorena Livoli of Waltham and brother and sister-in-law; Joseph A. Czerwinski and his wife, Donna of Everett. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral services were held Wednesday in the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home. Services concluded with Stanley being placed to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Joseph Spinale

Professional jockey, horse trainer

and Jockey’s Guild member

Joseph J. Spinale, a 65-year resident of Chelsea, passed away at home on Monday afternoon, August 31. He was 86 years old.

Born in Boston, the son of the late Salvatore and Letizia (Savoya) Spinale, he attended Boston Public Schools and was a professional horse racing jockey and trainer throughout his working career and a late member of the Jockey’s Guild.

Joseph was the father of Gary Spinale, dear brother of Frank Spinale of Chelsea and the late Paul, Domenic and Vincent Spinale and Camille Sheffold. He is also lovingly survived by seven nieces and 13 nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the Carafa Family Funeral Home, 389 Washington Ave., Chelsea today, Thursday, September 3 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, 59 Nichols St.,, Chelsea at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.

Anna Bowen

In Melrose

Anna J. (Burnham) Bowen died in Melrose on August 26.

She was the beloved wife of the late Walter W. Bowen; devoted mother of Dennis W. Bowen, Ret. Revere Fire Department and his wife, Ann Marie of Revere and Carol A. Kenney and her husband, Joseph M. of Woburn; dear sister of the late Helen Pellegrini, Marie Pompeo, Alice Vidito, Frederick, Edward, and George Burnham; cherished “Gamma” of Jennifer Rigali and her husband, Matt of California and Gregg Bowen, Revere Firefighter and his wife, Stefanie of Revere and great “gamma” of Jack and Ben Rigali and Zachary Bowen.

Funeral arrangements were by the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, Woburn. Interment was private. Remembrances may be made in Anna’s memory to the Leonard Florence Center, 165 Captain’s Row, Chelsea, MA 02150.
