William Powers

William P. Powers, the father of Stephen Powers, who served with distinction at Chelsea City Hall as an alderman and councilor, has died at the age of 94. He died at the Chelsea Soldiers Home as he was a Veteran of World War II.

Mr. Powers was a gregarious man who loved this city, who worked at the former American Biltrite plant on Congress Avenue for almost 40 years.

He was an outgoing man who gave to his son Stephen the belief that he should serve at city hall and have something to say about the city he loved – advice, which his son took.

If there was a heart and soul to the Powers Family, Mr. Powers was it.

Our condolences to his family, and especially to Stephen and his son, Stephen, Jr. whom we know so well.
