Louis Shapiro, 85

Night Club Owner and Gourmet Chef

Louis N. Shapiro of Chelsea died on November 23 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 85 years old.

A US Army veteran of World War II, he was born in Chelsea, lived here for most of his life and attended Chelsea schools and high school. He was a night club owner who loved to travel and was considered a gourmet chef.

He was the beloved fiancé of Levester Millsap and her children and grandchildren. He was the loving uncle of Lorraine Kushner, Janis Shapiro, Diane Groton, Iris and Sherry.

Services will be held at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Cary Sq., Chelsea, today, Wednesday, November 25 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Lynn. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.

 

Robert ‘Butchie’ Trainor

Life member of Winthrop BPOE Elks

Robert O. “Butchie” Trainor of Winthrop died on November 19.

A US Marine Corps veteran, he was a life member of the BPOE Winthrop Lodge of Elks 1078.

He was the beloved husband of Theresa “Terri” (Gallant) Trainor; dear son of the late Owen and Dorothy (Irwin) Trainor; devoted father of Patricia and John Petrillo of New Hampshire, Robert O. Trainor of South Carolina and the late Dorothy Medeiros; loving brother of William F. Trainor and his wife, Beverly, of Baltimore and Irene and Joseph DiGiovanni of Winthrop; dear grandfather of six and great grandfather of Chloe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Vita Viarella, 96

East Boston resident

Vita (Tittone) Viarella of East Boston died on November 20. She was 96 years old.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Viarella; loving mother of Joseph Viarella and his wife, Louise, and James Viarella and his wife, Janice all of Revere, John Viarella and Steven Viarella and his wife, Bernie, all of East Boston, Catherine Freni and her husband, Rocco, of Medford, Joan Viarella of Chelsea and the late Salvatore and Michael Viarella.

Garry Jonath, 66

Of Florida, formerly of Chelsea

Garry Jonath of Pembroke Pines, FL, formerly of Chelsea, died unexpectedly on November 10. He was 66 years old.

He was the devoted son of the late Paul and Anne (Lilly) Jonath; loving brother of Iris Fitzmeyer; dear uncle of Michael and Michelle Fitzmeyer, Wendy and Bob Florina and seven grandnieces and grandnephews.

Agnes Follis, 89

Retired Registered Nurse

Agnes T. (Conley) Follis of North Reading, formerly of Revere and Chelsea, died on November 18. She was 89 years old.

Mrs. Follis worked as a Registered Nurse for many years.

She was the beloved wife of the late John J.”Jack” Follis; dear friend of Robert and Tawnya Elworthy of North Reading; loving daughter of the late Michael and Agnes C. (Mullen) Conley; sister of the late Harry and Joseph Conley and Grace Maloney.

Funeral arrangements were by the Croswell Funeral Home, North Reading. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in North Reading.

 

John DiCicco Jr., 77

Retired Power Burner Technician

John J. DiCicco Jr., a 30 year resident of Revere, formerly of Everett, died on November 21 at the Whidden Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was 77 years old.

He attended Everett Public Schools and retired at age 62 as a Power Burner Technician for the Chandler Heating Co. of Melrose after 37 years of service.

He was the husband of the late Joan (Gillespie) DiCicco; beloved father of John III of Revere, Joanne DiCicco of New Hampshire, Jimmy and his wife, Laurie, of Beverly, and Jamie DiCicco of Winthrop; brother of the late Rose Paradiso and is lovingly survived by six grandchildren Ava, Angela, Amanda, Elisha, all of Beverly, Olivia of Lynn and Karla of New Hampshire.

Funeral arrangements were by the William R. Carafa & Son Home for Funerals, Chelsea.

 

Italo Cipriani, 88

Retired Foreman

Italo Cipriani of Chelsea died on November 20 at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere. He was 88 years old.

Born in Abruzzi, Italy and a long time resident of the Everett area, he served in the Italian Army during World War II and retired as a foreman for the Globe Ticket Agency after 30 years of service.

The beloved husband of Maria (Pellegrini) Cipriani, he was the dear and devoted father of Anthony Cipriani and Cynthia Patten of Chelsea and Richard Cipriani and his wife, Maureen, of Everett; brother of Anna Cipriani of Chelsea and loving grandpa of Lauren and Kristen Cipriani of Everett.

Funeral arrangements were by the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, Everett. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Contributions in his memory to the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center “Activity Fund”, 204 Proctor Ave., Revere, MA 02151, would be sincerely appreciated.

 

Bennett Winer, 92

Chelsea resident

Bennett P. Winer of Chelsea, formerly of Brighton and Salem, died on November 20. He was 92 years old.

A US Army veteran of World War II, he was the beloved husband of the late Shirley (Whitten) Winer; devoted father of Ronda Winer of Chelsea; loving brother of Henry Winer of Salem and the late Ruth Gordon, Blanche Hill, Allen and Phillip Winer. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

Funeral arrangements were by the Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, Salem. Burial was at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon. Mary Ann Ehrgott, 73

Of New Hampshire, formerly of Chelsea

Mary Ann Ehrgott of Londonderry, NH, formerly of Chelsea, died on November 19. She was 73 years old.

Born in Chelsea on March 14, 1936, a daughter of the late William and Helen (Gallucci) Ford, she was the wife of Robert E. Ehrgott and of the late James Duval, Sr.

Saugus resident

Fancesco A. “Frank” Pezzuto of Saugus died on November 19.

A US Army veteran of World War II, he was the loving husband of Elaine (McEachern) Pezzuto; beloved father of Joya Pezzuto of Everett and Heather Nichols of Saugus; cherished grandfather of Kyle and Hailey; dear brother of Robert Pezzuto and Richard Pezzuto, both of Chelsea and Michael Pezzuto of Burlington.
